And research reveals over half (53%) of the UK’s workforce say sustainability is an important factor in choosing a company to work for…and the importance of sustainable credentials ranks highest for Gen Z (16-24 year olds).

But a survey of 1,021 firms, conducted by YouGov found that 40% of U.K. SMEs don’t yet have a sustainability plan in place

Let’s change that, shall we?

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • You want to feel confident sharing your commitments without the fear you’ll get exposed because you “got it wrong”.
  • You want to pull together existing sustainability initiatives that feel piecemeal and disjointed.
  • You want to align your plan with wider business goals and make it part of your DNA.
  • You want to make sure your internal teams are engaged and contribute to your sustainability journey.
  • You want to make sustainability a priority amongst all the other practicalities of running a business and client delivery.
  • You want to leave a legacy you can be proud of knowing you’ve made a positive difference in the world.
  • You want the ease of responding to project bids or client questionnaires that relate to sustainability in a way you know reflects your values as a business.

I know exactly how it feels to try and raise your voice above the noise.

There’s a lot of noise in the sustainability space. Trying to figure out the dos and don’ts is a full-time job in itself,

It’s easy to get so preoccupied with what you should be doing that it overwhelms you and winds up at the bottom of your to-do list.

Don’t let the pursuit of perfection paralyse you. Meaningful change happens one step at a time; there’s no such thing as an overnight quick-fix. Aligning your sustainability initiatives with your business goals takes time, patience and an intimate understanding of the inner workings of your organisation.

Tick-box pledges or one-size-fits-all strategies won’t cut it for ambitious SMEs who are serious about making a positive impact. You know your business best and need to play a part in shaping your sustainability strategy without feeling overwhelmed.

Roadmap to Impact is a collaborative approach. In six months, we’ll work together to build an actionable plan that’s tailored to the needs, goals and values of your organisation. You just need the right foundations.

Amamus has retained True Horizon as our Sustainability Consultant for over four years, and in this time she has added incredible value to our team.

Nancy’s primary role is to develop and monitor strategies for improving our B Corp score year on year as this is our primary framework for improving our social and environmental impact. In 2023 we had our B Corp re-certification, which Nancy managed for us end-to-end. Our score increased from 83 points to 96 points, which was driven by her support, advice and guidance.

Then recently she led on a project to align our coffee impact with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This was a pioneering analysis-driven project that involved extensive liaison with our green coffee sourcing partners. The outcome of this projects helps our clients choose their coffee based on impact, rather than just country of origin or taste profile.

Roadmap to Impact isn’t just a series of directions; it’s a commitment to where you intend to go. To reach your destination, you must weave impact into the very FABRIC of your organisation.

Developing your Impact Roadmap will be a collaborative effort. We’ll build your impact team with representation from across the organisation and run a series of monthly workshops to build engagement.

Month 1

Month 1 is all about alignment. It’s a chance for me to get under the skin of your business and find out what makes you tick. Your mission, values, aspirations and industry expertise need to play a part in your overall strategy. This isn’t separate to your business strategy; it’s an integral part of it.

What you’ll get: The first step to ensuring your impact strategy is a part of your business strategy, not separate from it.

Month 2

In month 2, we’re focusing on resilience. We’ll work to uncover any risks and create a plan for turning them into opportunities. Climate risks, supply chain risks, reputational risks: we need to identify them so we can put plans in place to mitigate them.

What you’ll get: Actionable strategies to manage potential social and environmental risks in your business.

Month 3

Building a strategy that hasn’t considered what different stakeholder groups – clients, investors, employees – might need from you could result in a lot of wasted time and resource. In month 3 we’ll delve into who those groups are and what they expect from you.

What you’ll get: A map of your different stakeholders alongside their needs and expectations so we can build them into your plan.

Month 4

You can’t improve what you don’t measure. We’ll define specific metrics to track so that we can highlight your successes and make tweaks when things don’t go to plan.

What you’ll get: Measurable goals that feed into a tangible action plan so you can track your progress and your impact.

Month 5

It’s impossible to tackle everything at once so your roadmap needs to highlight priority areas as well as short and long term goals with allocated resources.

What you’ll get: A priority matrix showing what areas are important based on stakeholder needs, business needs and overall impact.

Month 6

The final result is a holistic and tailored roadmap designed specifically around the needs and aspirations of your business.

What you’ll get: A strategic roadmap with a clear pathway to positive impact that is embedded in everyday business decisions.

We began working with Nancy in 2021, and together we have built a strong foundation of sustainability strategy, carbon reduction targets, social governance, all of which led to assisting us with achieving B Corp certification in March 2025.

Nancy has brought a wealth of knowledge to what is often a complex and challenging area and has an exceptional ability to translate this into clear, achievable actions.

As a result, we have developed a genuine competitive advantage in our marketplace and are now well placed to support our customers in achieving their own sustainability goals.

It has been a pleasure working with Nancy, and we look forward to continuing the relationship as we move into future B Corp renewals and the next phase of our sustainability journey.

Small and medium-sized organisations often face unique challenges and opportunities when building a sustainability strategy. Unlike larger corporations, they typically have fewer resources, a lack of in-house expertise and smaller budgets, which can make building and implementing comprehensive sustainability initiatives more difficult.

On the flip side, smaller organisations can be more agile and innovative in their approach. They can quickly adapt and implement new ideas without the layers of red tape that larger companies face.

In just 6 months your business could benefit from:

  • A tailored and holistic strategy that incorporates both social and environmental considerations
  • The ability to communicate a confident and consistent sustainability message
  • Plans and pledges that are backed by action and change
  • Messaging that attracts clients who are aligned with your values and morals
  • A framework for responding confidently to project bids
  • The foundations of a legacy built on making a positive difference in the world
  • Attracting and retaining market-leading talent

If you’re done with treating sustainability as an afterthought and ready to devise a workable strategy that balances purpose and profit, let’s get to work.

Pricing starts from £6,000+VAT and payment plans are available.

Nancy is a pleasure to work with. She is incredibly talented at sharing her knowledge in a clear and concise manner before delivering a comprehensive sustainability roadmap with actionable objectives to help us transition to a more sustainable future.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?

After more than 10 years of experience in the sustainability industry developing strategies, calculating emissions and completing mandatory and voluntary environmental reporting for large corporations, I made the decision to take that knowledge to a different market.
